Assistant Coaches

Latisha Brown

Coach 18Red

Latisha has over 28 years of experience playing and coaching volleyball.  She has trained hundreds of girls to become superior athletes, and responsible human beings with a special emphasis on character development, self-esteem enhancement, discipline, and an “I can do it” mentality.  A major inclusion in her coaching is encouraging athletes to believe that if they put their minds toward a specific goal, they could accomplish anything they desire.  Her chief joy when coaching and training is seeing athletes transform to a higher level of excellence in their overall performance and a remarkable increase in their confidence.
She joined the Willowbrook coaching staff in 2007 with the 11 and under group. She has experience as a Collegiate Coach, High School Coach, Club Coach and as a player.  As a Willowbrook Coach, she has coached 12 Red, 13 Red, (3) 15 Red teams, and took the 17 Red to Post Season in 2014. Each of her teams has either placed high in major and minor tournaments, won tournaments, qualified for the Tour of Texas and/or qualified for Nationals.  Latisha has years of experience as a collegiate coach at The University of Houston and Rice University.  Lastly, Latisha’s High School coaching career includes starting a girl’s athletic program at The Banff School (Basketball, Volleyball and Cheerleading) and was the Head Coach at Northland Christian (leading them to a record winning season at that time).
As a player, Latisha received a full athletic scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Houston as Middle Blocker and Outside Hitter. At The University of Houston she was in the record books for many years in hitting percentage, total kills and blocking.  Athletic honors include: All-Decade Team in the SWC, multiple AVCA All-Regional, SWC All-Conference, All-Tournament and Player of the Week Awards, as well as the Captain of the United States Olympic Festival North Volleyball Team.  She was an intricate part of the first team at U of H to make the NCAA tournament her Junior year.  Latisha led her team to winning NIVC post-season Championship her Senior year.
Her coined athletic coaching phrase is D + A = S (Discipline + Action = Success). The chances of Success are increased if an athlete can remain Disciplined in the skills and training taught, and put forth aggressive Action toward those learned skills.
