Gabi Carbone

Training Director and Recruiting Coordinator and 16Red Coach

Gabi Carbone, a native of Brazil, has been working with Willowbrook Volleyball Club since 2000. She has been named the Club Recruiting Coordinator in 2010 and named Training Director shortly after in 2012. Serving as the Head Training Director and Recruiting Coordinator, Carbone's responsibilities include coaching the 16's top team, planning club wide practices, training and developing coaching staff, practice layouts, tournaments selections, helping promote kids and finding them scholarships to play in college and more. After graduating from University of Houston in 2003 with degrees in psychology and kinesiology, Carbone started coaching right away where she spent seven seasons with the University of Houston Cougar volleyball program. During her time at the University of Houston, Carbone has helped the team to 7 winning seasons, one trip to the C-USA Championships and one trip to the semi-finals. She also trained several ALL Americans, and ALL conferences players. Carbone was considered one of the top recruiters in the nation. Her commitment to the volleyball community extends far beyond. She has been training and developing players since 1998. Carbone's National and international knowledge and experience is crucial in training and preparing kids to further their
volleyball careers. Since full time at WSC Carbone has helped several players to fulfill their dreams of playing volleyball at the collegiate level. She has a 100% ratio in regards of college recruitment, meaning every kid that wants to play in the next level she will find a place for them to play. She has also qualified every team she has coached for Junior Olympics, where she has earned Silver and a Bronze Medal and also a 5th Place. She has also led her teams to 2 National Qualifiers Championship and 1 Bronze Medal Placement. Carbone also brings a great deal of International experience to Willowbrook volleyball program. Being a native of Brazil, the top country in volleyball, shows that Carbone has played at the highest level; making her an exceptional player and trainer. As a former student-athlete for University of Houston, Carbone set the program record with 3.55 digs per game in the pre-libero era and was the team captain. She also is in the program's Top 10 with 0.35 service aces per game. Carbone was a member of the 2001 First-Team All-C-USA. Before coming to UH, Carbone was a standout in her native country of Brazil as well as at Seward County Community College in Kansas, where she garnered All-American First-Team honors, AVCA First Team All American, Player of the year and several All Conference and All Region awards during her 2 years. Carbone has been a key person for Willowbrook's success. The owners plan on having her in the program for a while to continue to influence the volleyball community and players.
In 2013 Carbone was awarded by the LoneStar Region to the Robert L. Lindsay Meritorious Service Award.

Janice Pressley

Camp Manager and Marketing Director and 15Red Coach

Janice currently serves as Willowbrook's Summer Camp Marketing Director. Janice has coached on the high school level and collegiate lever for 7 years with stints at Bartram Trail High School, University of North Florida and Florida State College at Jacksonville. In addition to collegiate coaching, Janice was also the Regional Director and Camp Director at Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association where she has served since 2001 with an appearance in the 2010 USAV Jr National Championship, winning a Gold Medal. Starting in 2007, Janice has also coached internationally with Bring It Promotions as a Head Coach leading and assisting teams in Austria, Slovenia, Greece, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, and New Zealand. Before her coaching career, Janice played at Florida Community College at Jacksonville and then transferred to Georgia Southern University with All Conference Awards as well as a Southern Conference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament, where they fell to eventual runner up Florida in the first round.

Latisha Brown

Latisha has over 28 years of experience playing and coaching volleyball.  She has trained hundreds of girls to become superior athletes, and responsible human beings with a special emphasis on character development, self-esteem enhancement, discipline, and an “I can do it” mentality.  A major inclusion in her coaching is encouraging athletes to believe that if they put their minds toward a specific goal, they could accomplish anything they desire.  Her chief joy when coaching and training is seeing athletes transform to a higher level of excellence in their overall performance and a remarkable increase in their confidence. 
She joined the Willowbrook coaching staff in 2007 with the 11 and under group. She has experience as a Collegiate Coach, High School Coach, Club Coach and as a player.  As a Willowbrook Coach, she has coached 12 Red, 13 Red, (3) 15 Red teams, and took the 17 Red to Post Season in 2014. Each of her teams has either placed high in major and minor tournaments, won tournaments, qualified for the Tour of Texas and/or qualified for Nationals.  Latisha has years of experience as a collegiate coach at The University of Houston and Rice University.  Lastly, Latisha’s High School coaching career includes starting a girl’s athletic program at The Banff School (Basketball, Volleyball and Cheerleading) and was the Head Coach at Northland Christian (leading them to a record winning season at that time).
As a player, Latisha received a full athletic scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Houston as Middle Blocker and Outside Hitter. At The University of Houston she was in the record books for many years in hitting percentage, total kills and blocking.  Athletic honors include: All-Decade Team in the SWC, multiple AVCA All-Regional, SWC All-Conference, All-Tournament and Player of the Week Awards, as well as the Captain of the United States Olympic Festival North Volleyball Team.  She was an intricate part of the first team at U of H to make the NCAA tournament her Junior year.  Latisha led her team to winning NIVC post-season Championship her Senior year.
Her coined athletic coaching phrase is D + A = S (Discipline + Action = Success). The chances of Success are increased if an athlete can remain Disciplined in the skills and training taught, and put forth aggressive Action toward those learned skills.
Latisha is the author of “Get Up You Big Fat Procrastinator”. 

April Murphy

April has been playing volleyball for over 23 years. She has coached and trained many athletes on the high school and collegiate level. April received a scholarship to Florida State College @ Jacksonville where she was First Team All-Conference in 1997. She currently holds the school record for kill percentage (.407), block solos (73 one year), block assists (191 2 years) and kills per game (3.05 2 years). She then transferred to Northwestern State University as a Middle Blocker where she earned All-Southland Conference Second Team Selection & All-Southland Conference Honorable Mention Team Selection honors. After receiving her B.S in Business/Finance in 2002, April went on to become the assistant volleyball coach at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA for two years before making Houston her permanent home. In 2010, April moved to Melbourne Australia with her husband where she continued to coach and play volleyball with the regional volleyball team, Melbourne Renegades, until her repatriation back to the US in 2013. April is a strong believer that middle blockers control the tempo of the game. She has the ability to bring players together and focus on the mental aspect of volleyball which includes mental toughness, high energy, and positive attitudes.

Tony Lind

Tony has been coaching for Willowbrook since 2003. He has coached every age group from 13's to 18's. In 2006 – 2007 Tony's first team Qualified for Jr. Nationals by taking 4th at Lone Star Regionals since that time Tony has had 5 other teams qualify for nationals; 2 of the Teams in 18 Open. In 2010 his team took 3rd at Lone Star Qualifier and 2011 they took Second at Big south and Second at the Lone Star Qualifier. He also led his 18's team to winning the 2012 Big South Qualifier, one of the largest and hardest qualifiers in the country. He was also the Assistant coach for 17 Red in 2012 where they finish 2nd Place in 17 National Division at JO's. In 2014 he Qualified his 16's second team by Finishing 4th at Lone Star Regionals.

Royce Molitor

Royce Molitor is a native Houstonian and graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Finance. In his 10 plus years of coaching, including soccer and volleyball he has taken multiple teams to Nationals with a 4th place finish in the 14's division. He believes in being the best at aspects of the game you have control of such as: Individual work ethic, court awareness and team communication. He is married to Debbie and they have 4 daughters who have all played volleyball.

Christy Reed

Christy is in her second year overall with Willowbrook after taking last year off. She coached the 15 Blue team during the 2012-2013 season and she is now in charge of 17 Blue. She has ten years of high school volleyball coaching experience. In addition, she has coached for various club teams over the years, which have included Copperfield Juniors, Tornados, and Willowbrook. She has really enjoyed working with all of the age groups and watching them grow and develop on and off the court.

Rich Richardson

Daniel "Rich" Richardson is 51 Years old, and an Impact certified coach as well as a USAV Championship Official/Scorer, with over 30 years playing experience, and 25 years officiating experience. In Rich's 12 years of coaching he has had 5 teams qualify for USAV Nationals, while earning a bronze medal in the American division in 2005, and 2007 at the 17's age level, as well as a silver medal in the National division this past season. Rich has dedicated himself to "Striving to help young athletes achieve their goals on and off the court. It is truly and honor and a privilege to have this opportunity." In 2013 coach Rich was awarded by the LoneStar Region to the Robert L. Lindsay Meritorious Service Award.

Daniel Romero

Daniel has been coaching and playing since 1995 when he started playing indoor volleyball in Louisiana. He has been a student assistant coach at McNeese State and Stephen F Austin. He has coached club for the past 10 years at different clubs in Louisiana and Texas. In 2009 he took his 18's team to a 13th place finish at Junior Olympics. He is also an open level sand volleyball player as well. He loves to teach the game to kids and to see them grow and achieve their goals as athletes.

Diane Beckmeyer

Diane Played at Cy-Creek High School where she Made the All-State Team. After High school she went on to play Division I in college at University of New Orleans and Stephen F Austin. She coached volleyball at Cypress Christian for four years - two years at varsity. She also Coached them to their highest ranking in school history - 8th in state out of all 1A-3A schools. Diane is entering her ninth year at Willowbrook where she has coached top teams from 13-18's.

Jordan White

Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. She started playing volleyball her freshmen year of high school. She had to give up 13 years for soccer to start her volleyball career, which it was well worth it. Volleyball was very natural for her and She made varsity her freshmen year. She ended up signing with the University of Texas at San Antonio her junior year of high school. Here are some of her accolades. She also played club volleyball for The New Mexico Juniors. High School:4 year letter-man, First team all district- 3 years, First team all metro- 2 years, First team all state- 2 years, Player of the year for New Mexico- 2006. College: All Academic Team 2011-2012, Voted Captain- Sophomore year Setter. This is her 6th year coaching club volleyball and she loves it. Volleyball is her LIFE and she wouldn't have it any other way. She teach and coach at Waller High School. She is the Head Varsity Volleyball coach, JV soccer, and girls golf.

Margaret Fritz

Margaret has 3 daughters and one son. All three girls have played club volleyball. Two have finished playing in college and one is still at Willowbrook. Her son plays baseball at Sam Houston. She played volleyball at Canyon New Braunfels. She played college volleyball for 3 years and graduated in 3 ½. She then started coaching middle school in San Antonio and then onto high school at Westfield and Klein High. She coached years of college camps for Texas State University and Texas Women's University. After teaching and coaching at school, She decided to start coaching club volleyball for the Texas Tornados. She coached with them for 5 years and then moved over to Willowbrook. She has been with Willowbrook the last 7 years and look forward to starting a new year.

Bill Jenkins

This is Bill's 1st year to coach at Willowbrook but his 4th year to be associated with club volleyball. Currently Bill is coaching volleyball at Tomball High School where he was the Varsity Assistant/JV head coach in 2013. The JV posted a 24-10 record going 13-1 in District in route to a District Championship. He also served as freshman girls basketball coach in 2013, compiling a 28-2 record and a District Championship. As freshman coach in 2014, his team compiled a 28-3 record, 13-1 in district and again a District Championship. My personal philosophy is that "Volleyball, or sports in general, is a microcosm of life. It is so much more than just a game and the girls are not just learning about volleyball but about teamwork, sportsmanship, work ethics, competitiveness, loyalty, honor, heart, and learning to overcome obstacles."

Perry Sontag

Perry has been coaching volleyball for seven years, the last four with Houston Skyline. This is his first year with Willowbrook and he is excited about the opportunity to coach and learn from the staff and his players. He has played competitively indoors and outdoors for over 20 years and has also been a USAV certified referee. Perry's teams have been nationally competitive at the highest levels and many players have gone on to play in college. His philosophy is that "hard work with quality and high reps pays off." His emphasis is on solidifying fundamentals and then extending those skills/strategies based on age and ability.

Brittainie Zinsmeyer

This will be her first year with Asics Willowbrook Club and she is very excited to join such a talented family. She relocated to the Woodlands this year to teach Special Education for Conroe ISD. She has coached both 14s and 15s club groups for Texas Storm Volleyball in Victoria for the past two years. While coaching club, she was also the Varsity coach for 4-A A.C. Jones High School in Beeville, TX. Prior to 2012, she worked in San Diego, TX as both a Varsity assistant and a junior high coach. As a coach, She strongly believes in not just teaching the components of volleyball, but also teaching a love of the game that players will keep with them forever. Before going into teaching/coaching, she attended the University of Texas at Austin for Psychology and Sociology from 2006-2009, where she played intramural and sand volleyball for fun and to stay in shape. During high school, she was a utility player for Mathis, a small 3A school in South Texas.

Morgan Thomas

Morgan has been playing volleyball for the past twelve years, and has been an assistant coach for five years both at the middle school and high school levels. She played at LeTourneau University during college and was also the founder and president of the LETU Sand Volleyball Club during her time at the school. She ended her career as an Outside Hitter, but has experience playing all positions. Her favorite position is anywhere on the court. This is her first year at Willowbrook, but she wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Jasmine Terry

A native Houstonian, Jasmine played volleyball at Pearland High School under the direction of John Turner. She played club here in Houston at Texas Tornadoes, AVA, and South Shore. She then went on to play at the University of Houston under the legendary Bill Walton where she was named to the all freshman conference team in 2009. She then transferred to Arkansas State University after her freshman year and finished her career there until graduating in 2013 with a degree in psychology. She enjoys playing volleyball as well as coaching the game. She is extremely excited about this club season!

Lizzi Reed

Lizzi Reed has been with Willowbrook since 2000. She started with us as a 10 year old Gator! She has been a travel club player, employee and coach for us. She played club volleyball at Texas A&M after high school for two years and also coached club in College Station. She ended her volleyball career as a DS/Libero. She has worked exclusively under Gabi Carbone as her assistant for the national 16s team. She is in her 4th year of coaching club and wouldn't rather be anywhere but Willowbrook Volleyball.

Erica English

Erica English is on her second year as a coach for the Willowbrook Volleyball Club. She has been involved in the sport of volleyball for approximately 14 years. Her interest in volleyball occurred after watching her older sister participate in the sport. She began playing volleyball during middle school. She was a two year letterman at Elkins High School. She was also a member of Texas Tornadoes Club for four years. She also played collegiate volleyball at McMurry University in Abilene Texas. She is currently employed full-time at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in business operations. While she has had the opportunity to provide private volleyball lessons and serve as coach in different venues, she is very excited to share her volleyball experience, skills and knowledge with others that share the same interest and passion for the sport.

Rae Shockley

Rae started playing her senior year at Spring High School as a DS/OH. She played in college at Oklahoma Wesleyan University as a DS/L and led the conference two years in a row in aces. Coached two years for Tulsa Juniors 15s age group. She has been coaching at Willowbrook for two years in the 13s age group. She is currently finishing up her last year of her Masters.

Jeff Peters

He has coached for WSC for 6 years. He is an USAV HP evaluator and A3 camp coach. He also has coached the Maccabi games U16 International juniors team, where they earned two gold medals and one bronze medal. He is also CAP level I and Impact certified. Jeff is a Juniors, Collegiate and Beach official.

Tonya Davis

Coach Tonya Davis is entering her 11th year as a volleyball coach. She is a graduate of Houston Baptist University with Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Theology and also from HBU, Davis has her Masters in Education (MEd). Davis volleyball coaching career begin with her own passion for the game as a coach for a middle school where she developed and trained players to have integrity on and off of the court. Davis has 3 years of select/club volleyball experience where she thoroughly enjoyed the heightened level of competition for her players. Eight years ago, Davis also began coaching and volunteering volleyball at the local YMCA and also developed a free volleyball summer camp which she still facilitates annually for low income athletes. Davis has played indoor and beach volleyball on the adult level and still enthusiastically follows the sport. Davis is IMPACT certified and believes in pursuing continual coaching education. Davis believes the most important aspect in a player is attitude first and ability second.

Sarah Sanchez

Sarah began playing volleyball when she was 8 years old. She began her career at Willowbrook when she was 13 as a middle blocker. She eventually transitioned to the right side by her 18's year. When she was 13, Sarah and the rest of her team won the gold medal at the Junior National Championship, she also competed in the Open Division at Nationals every consecutive year following. Sarah received a full scholarship to play volleyball at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. During her four years at Corpus Christi, Sarah started as a right side, defensive specialist, and an outside hitter before finishing her career as a middle blocker. She is currently pursuing a career as a Physical Therapist, and is patiently awaiting her acceptance into PT school. Sarah is very grateful for the Willowbrook community, as it has greatly impacted her life. She is proud to be returning to the club as a coach.

Madison Hiemenz

Madison played on the very first Willowbrook Club volleyball team that actually went on to medal in two national qualifiers. She began playing volleyball at the age of 9 when Volleyball quickly became her favorite sport. Madison trained and played as both a setter and hitter. She played for Bleyl Junior High as well as Cypress Creek High School. She was honored to accept a scholarship to play Division I volleyball for Southern Methodist University. She began coaching for Willowbrook right after she completed her volleyball career at SMU. This will be her 6th season at Willowbrook. She specializes in setter training and development of fundamental skills for beginning volleyball players. Madison was a kindergarten teacher for 6 years until the recent birth of her son. She is now a proud stay at home mom that loves the ability to continue her passion and love for volleyball through coaching.

Verena Khalil

Setters Coach & 12Red Asst.

Verena has been coaching in the Boston and Houston area for 10 years. She graduated from Cy-Creek High School and then continued to play division I volleyball on a full athletic scholarship at Boston College. While there, she set two school records in Most Assists in a single season and Most Aces in a single season. Verena also led the Eagles as team captain for 3 years. Her coaching philosophy is to view a volleyball player as both an athlete and a young woman, teaching both aspects of the individual that hard work and discipline are the way to success.

Ashley Jenkins

Ashley has been coaching volleyball on and off for five years. She specializes in fundamentals and strengthening key concepts. She played club and school volleyball throughout middle school and high school. Due to a shoulder injury, She did not play in college. However, she did begin her coaching career and received her Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from Sam Houston State University.

Kaitlynn Henson

Kaitlynn is taking on her second season as a coach for Willowbrook. She is very knowledgeable on and off the court with over nine years of experience as a player herself. Kaitlynn attended Orange field High School where she was a starter all four years and captain her senior year. After high school she attended North Central Texas College for her first year, and then transferred to the University of St. Thomas where she is currently playing. This year she played an important role for the lady Celts, as she started over 92 games and was ranked #5 in the Red River Athletic Conference on service aces per game. She was also just awarded the NAIA Champions of Character award at their conference tournament. Kaitlynn is very excited for this season and hopes she can be an inspiration to her young team as they grow and develop their skills as a volleyball player.

Kesha Dyer

Kesha has coached volleyball in the Houston area as well as New Orleans for over 10 years. She has won several district titles as a junior high and high school volleyball coach. This is her first year coaching club volleyball. Kesha has a degree in Sports Medicine and is certified to coach other sports. Along with volleyball she can be found coaching track as well as supporting her children in their numerous activities or simply spending time with family and friends. Kesha firmly believes in "I CAN" never "I CAN'T".

Christie Jenkins

This is Christie's 1st year to coach at Willowbrook, but her 4th year to be associated with club volleyball. Christie's philosophy with the younger kids is to focus every day on perfecting the fundamentals. " It really breaks down to a simple game. If you can serve, serve receive, pass, set, and hit you can play with anyone regardless of height."
